After seeing the fun of my girlfriend's Chevette, I had to have my own. I cruise Craigslist every day for random stupid stuff that I have to have, and found an add for a 1976 Chevette that didn't run for $400. I called the guy up, and he still had it. He said everyone that came to buy it wanted to use it in a demo derby and he wouldn't sell it to them. I told him I'd be there with a trailer after work, and I wasn't going to wreck it. Turns out it was his neighbors car since new, and they sold it to him for his daughter as her first car. He had the car gone over and had new tires put on it. At some point her friend backed into it, denting the door and blowing out the side window and windshield. After that she came home one day with it smoking incredibly badly, and he pronounced it finished. Here it is coming home. His daughter had named it "Squirt". The name stuck. Turns out that the car had a bad vacuum modulator for the trans. I changed that, and it stopped the smoke show. Here it is on the dyno. 24whp, what a beast. And here was it's first drive of this year.

That's a nice looking car. I'd like to find a 70's car in that good of shape, or 83+ car in that good of shape, or any two door car in that good of shape. I just bought the only car I could find that still had the factory installed floor.

I dig it. I'd love a 70s Vette.
