Hello folks, I just picked up an 82 diesel chevette! I have another similar car that I've been driving and working on, a 1981 diesel Isuzu P'up so I figured this car would be it's natural companion (or the I-mark, but I found the chevette). So I have been looking around on the web for information, forums, etc on these beasts and a lot of what I've found is very disjointed. There's a very old style forum, several personal websites (many of which no longer really exist), and other scattered info. It would be great to have a central site/forum with technical articles, specs, diagrams etc. how to articles, and a discussion forum. This forum obviously seems a little new but perhaps with some work it could be made into something truly useful? Anyone else working on something like this? I noticed someone was putting together a chevettearchive.com also? Anyhow here's a couple of pics - edit - perhaps this board could also be made to take pics larger than 1 mb

Cool! I am on the hunt for a diesel. I'm hoping this site takes off, and the more people that join and post the better chance it has.
As far as pictures being larger than 1 meg, that's till very large for a picture. Upload your pic to photobucket and hose from there. The picture will be larger in dimension but smaller in size.

I guess it is kind of large, but many pictures taken with cameras may have to be manually scaled down. It's way better if they can be attached to the website (especially for archival purposes, often times a site where photos were linked from another site lose the link/content after a while).
Hope you find a diesel, I love the little Isuzu Diesels!

Nice, I've never even seen a complete diesel Chevette, I would love to own one. On the other forum I posted a link to an archived version of dieselchevette.com from the wayback machine on archive.org I'll post it again here just for reference. web.archive.org/web/20080501095519/http://www.dieselchevettes.com/The chevettearchive.com site is a very long way off What's up there now is just a place holder until I can manage to get something together (I shouldn't have skipped all my web design and Unix courses in college) Just setting up a linux based web server has been kicking my ass for a few evenings. I really hope I can turn it into something useful.

Lots of good information but it is all scattered about! Let me know if you need any help. I do web software stuff by trade (and primarily work in a lamp environment). Honestly I think a good idea would be to take the content from those old sites and put into a forum as well so that they are search-able and by topic.

_ Here's an original body pic.. going to be doing a full 'restore' repainting body and then will be repainting interior panels. I have to say my biggest gripe about the car so far is the instrument cluster (lack thereof) and plastic door panels. I have a bunch of other work I'm going to have done on it. Timing belt right away and then in some order of, brakes (I saw something about upgrading to 83 and later style front brake calipers), clutch (has a little too much play), and the rack and pinion is leaking.

Yes the newer brakes are less death-defying to try to stop. You need the knuckles and calipers from the newer year. I think the calipers are the same.

Just Calipers Brackets and Pads need to be changed. Rotors, and Steering knuckles are the same. You do however need to remove the rotors as the dust shields require minor trimming. I painted my calipers so they wouldn't rust... That was an effin' waste of time.

Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.
I've been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
